Summer is over............

It's been a tough couple of weeks at the Shaffer household.

Little Leo is finally showing some signs of "testing" He is officially 2 years old! He hasn't been sleeping too great, but still enough. He is "going boneless" as Mo Willems and Jane like to say. He constantly spills his big boy cups (as he insists on having them) just to see what will happen (I wish I could clue him in that the result is ALWAYS the same, but experiment he must!) He is basically making his mommy crazy (but mommy is a little more emotional than usual!) I have also started working everyday for a few hours, to start permanently full time next Tuesday - and I think that's hard on all of us. He's still such a good boy though - and just cute as pie!

He pretends ALL the time now - we're not really sure what's real sometimes. Today he pretended to cry, choke, gag, sneeze, and cough! Oh Leo!

However, the most embarrassing of his pretending came tonight at the park. Leo is still pretty good at sitting on his potty, especially if mommy or daddy are going too. Well, he has put together that the dog lifts his leg on a bush to pee - so at the park, Leo gave it a try on every tree and bush! He gets down on all fours and lifts one leg - complete with a little grunt. I actually think he's pushing out some pee while he does this!

Leo is also singing pretty much non-stop! Again, we have to get a video - but any new song he hears on the radio - he makes up words and a tune and sways back and forth! He really seems to like the Aerosmith rock ballads, such as Crazy and Don't Want to Close My Eyes! He also really likes any singing TV show - America's Got Talent, Nashville Star, and, yes - we have been forced to watch, High School Musical! He also insists on singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Moon" and gets pretty angry if you suggest "star" but accepts "Twinkle Twinkle Little Mommy or Daddy or Leo" He is also overly sensitive to the contestants on Wipeout, the game show where people take on a very messy obstacle course. Leo asks everyone if they are "alright," shouts "Oh no!" every time they take a spill, and cheers very enthusiastically when they make it to their destination. Daddy is really hoping that this enthusiasm carries over when we watch the Olympics - since Leo will be earning his gold medals at the 2024 Games in swimming!

He definitely keeps us laughing in between the "MINE LEO's" "No No NO's!!!" and "MORE!"

Please keep the families that are waiting for their children and referrals from Commonwealth Adoption Agency in your thoughts and prayers. The agency is no more; and the families are in a bit of limbo as they await some bureaucratic decisions to be made. It must be the most difficult thing to go through. I tear up just thinking about it........

Hey! I'm behind in my blog reading... Yes the dog imitating is hilarious! Testing is tough, isn't it? It's amazing how as parents our emotions can go from being really peeved to thinking that they're the ultimate cutie in one second flat. Good luck with it all!
